Clare Soars to Grade 10

Despite financial challenges at home, Clare started her Grade 9 in 2015, with help from an individual sponsor. But half way through the year, the funds ran out and she had to drop out. Her parents tried again in 2016 with help from various sources but she studied for only three months, then dropped out again. She came to Elimu in January and we enrolled her into Elimu’s Stay in School Project and took her back to high school. She has finally completed Grade 9 and is looking forward to moving on to Grade 10 in 2018.

Cindy Rodriguez lives in Los Angeles California with her husband Steve and her two children. She is passionate that children have access to quality education. Her career has always focus on children including a strong background in technology edutainment and curriculum development. She began as a teacher and grew into a leadership, Vice Principal role for both elementary and middle schools. She has two MAs in Curriculum and Instruction and Education Leadership. She has an active hand in charity work ranging from assisting Latino students with scholarship foundations to the development of preschools in Darfur/Chad refugee camps. In her free time, she enjoys baking, cooking, travel, running and being an active mom.
